MDP worked successfully on another sensitive site constrained by a Conversation Area status, adjacent to a Listed building and within the AONB in Newbury, Berkshire.
The site was fire damaged and dominated by a large mature maple tree so works needed to be sensitive to this too. Officers initially sought to resist the scheme on heritage grounds but a heritage statement was produced which described accurately the elements of the site which are significant to the CA and the LB next door and how the scheme didn’t harm these. After some months of delays due to nitrate concerns in the nearby river catchment MDP also persuaded the LPA that the scheme would not intensify the use of the site and shortly after permission was granted. The client is delighted and the house is now on the market. The application was approved in July 2023. |
