four new dwellings near oxford in green belt

Mark Doodes Planning was appointed to submit a planning application for a small-scale residential scheme of four units outside of Oxford in the Green Belt. This scheme for a small local housebuilder was designed around its constraints and the need to persuade the Local Planning Authority that it was an appropriate development in the Green Belt. As the application was successful in doing that, permission was granted in September 2017.

The site lies to the east of Lower Closen, a Grade II Listed Building in the heart of the village Garsington. The designs ensured  to make a minimal impact upon the setting of the heritage asset and none upon the direct significance of the asset itself. With three of the dwellings being four-bedrooms and one being a three-bed house, the dwellings offered a small development of much needed new, open market homes in a sustainable location.

Due to the mid-size of the units, the dwellings will appeal to downsizers and families alike, catalysing the local housing market and widening choice. The site is close to Oxford City with a regular bus service aimed at commuters and other users.
