site redevelopment with self-build plots and starter homes
On behalf of a client, Mark Doodes Planning has submitted an outline planning application to redevelop the land north of the B480 in Stadhampton, which is a site locally known as “Santanna’s Place”. The scheme includes creating up to 9 self-build plots and 5 starter homes, in addition to a new footpath better connecting the site to the village. With the inclusion of self-build plots, the development represents an opportunity for the village and district to create the first self-build development on a small and manageable scale. Starter homes are available for those aged under 40, and the buyers must be first-time buyers. Additionally, the home can't be sold for more than £250,000. The concept was driven by the idea of allowing people to create their own new housing in a low-density layout suitable for an edge of village location. The proposals have been informed by engagement with the key stakeholders within the local parish. This has included pre-application discussions with the Parish Council and a public engagement event. |
