12 HOUSES stanton st. quintin, CHIPPENHAM, WILTSHIRE
MDP were instructed to carry out an assessment of a site for planning potential in the village of Stanton St Quintin near Chippenham. On the strength of this initial advice, we were then appointed to prepare and submit an outline planning application for 12 houses, including affordable homes, in early 2022. The application site is positioned on the southern edge of the village, which has a good selection of local facilities, including a school, parish hall and a hotel with a restaurant and bar. The village itself has changed over time, with new developments in the 1950s, 1970s, 1980s and 2000s. MDP instructed and led a team of seven specialists to help identify and develop proposals that identified the constraints of the sites and positively supported the site’s immediate location, and wider village context. The submitted design aims to retain as much of the existing trees and hedgerows as possible, as well as proposing that 40% of the properties will be affordable housing, helping to bring forward much-needed housing to the area. There are also plans for a new footpath to link the new houses to the existing village footways and a new public open space for the village on presently private land. The application has been submitted to Wiltshire Council and has been assigned application number PL/2023/04815. Please visit the planning department website for more information here. |
